What is Soutache?

Soutache is also referred to as "Russian Braid". It is a common element in the French art of passementerie. It can be curved and shaped into many patterns; it is incredible light and it will adapt to the wearer´s body.

Amazing, uh? I would love to learn to make jewelry using Soutache!

Felt rolls

I feel so proud that I finally made a felted roll with the yarn fibers I bought almost 2 years ago... Yay!

It´s all about adding layers of fiber of different colors, roll them, add some warm water and soap and roll it again till you have it tight.

Now I am using the slices for making some jewelry. I promise I am going to show you my creations soon :)

Me siento orgullosa de haber hecho finalmente mi rollo de fieltro con la fibra de lana que compré hace casi 2 años... Yupiii!

Se trata de ir superponiendo capas de fibra de diferentes colores, enrollarlas, agregarles agua tibia y jabón blanco disuelto y enrollar nuevamente, repitiendo el proceso hasta conseguir un rollo bien apretado.

Ahora uso las rodajas para armar algo de bijou. Prometo que mostraré pronto mis creaciones :)

New tags and packaging for gifts

I have made some new tags for jewelry and I used a free printable pillow box from Benign Objects to include my pieces and to give them a nice presentation. Cute, uh? :)

I will make a pillow box with my own design soon...

By the way, this necklace was made with my felt rolls, the ones I made a year ago. You can find the instructions to make them in a previous post.

Estuve armando unas nuevas etiquetas para bijou y usé el modelo de una cajita que se ofrece gratuitamente en Benign Objects para darle a todo una mejor presentación. Lindo, no?

Pronto haré una cajita con mi propio diseño...

Por cierto, este collar fue armado con mis rolls de pañoleci (fieltro) que armé un año atrás. Podrás encontrar las instrucciones para armarlos en un post anterior.
